With the increasing sophistication and speed of various machines it is very important to maintain the quality of springs. And to do this springs must be checked to see if they meet the designed specifications. A spring testing machine is generally used to test the quality of springs.

Testing of a spring is generally done to check the spring’s quality and to ensure that it properly performs its intended purpose. Spring testing generally consists of a known load being applied on the spring and then the Free Height, Final Height of the spring being checked. After removing the load the permanent set is also an important parameter which is checked. Alternatively, the spring can be compressed to a known distance and then the load checked at that point, if the parameters match with the requirement then the spring can be marked OK otherwise the sample shall be rejected.
Spring Testing Machines are based on constant rate of traverse principle, in which one end of the test specimen is held in a stationery grip while the other end is moved at a known fixed speed with the help of a gearbox, and screw arrangement. A similar principle has been used in the Spring Testing Machine.
